Dr. Randelle Sasa is a tenured associate professor of nursing at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York. His expertise is in medical-surgical and critical care nursing. Prior to his teaching appointment, Randelle worked at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. He was part of Bellevue’s Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Special Pathogens Response Team that served during the height of the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak. Randelle is a board-certified registered nurse (RN-BC), certified Med-Surg Nurse (CMSRN), and a certified critical care nurse (CCRN). Before immigrating to the United States, Randelle also worked as a Surgical ICU and Burn ICU nurse at the Philippine General Hospital. He also taught at the Far Eastern University and in several NCLEX test prep centers in Manila.
Randelle is a scholar, researcher and published author. He presented in conferences in the US and internationally. Randelle’s research interests are eclectic, including Filipino caring, health disparities among Asian American and Pacific Islanders, men in nursing, gun violence, and high impact educational practices (HIPs). Randelle received Fellowship in the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association in 2015 and was inducted as a Nurse-Leader at the Sigma Theta Tau Alpha Phi Chapter (Hunter College, CUNY) in 2018. Randelle is the recipient of the 2023 Elsevier Educator of the Year, an award conferred by the Organization of Associate Degree Nursing (OADN).
