Nursing Faculty/Simulation Specialist

A passion for hands on learning inspired Ms. Atiya Malkin to embrace the dynamic and engaging world of simulation education. Instrumental in helping build the Bellevue College Nursing Simulation program she has been teaching and learning alongside her students since 2012. Earning her BSN from the University of Washington she also has a Masters degrees in Teaching and in Human Development, a background in education, and 15 years in medical–surgical nursing. In addition to growing up in Egypt, New York City, and Montreal, Canada Atiya Malkin has had myriad opportunities to hone her skills as nurse and educator in dynamic and culturally diverse settings in and around the Pacific Northwest. She believes in using simulation to create an inclusive learning environment where both faculty and students embrace a culture of curiosity and work together as a team to develop their clinical reasoning. Ms. Atiya Malkin believes that nursing education programs should support multimodal learners. Bringing diversity into the workforce will lay the foundation for holistic nursing care. Ms. Atiya Malkin is currently full time tenured faculty at Bellevue College in Bellevue, WA.
