Dr. Treesa Scaria, PhD, CPNP, APRN is the Nursing Department Chair and Program Chair at Dutchess Community College (DCC) and a Part-time faculty at Pace University. She has been a nursing faculty over 20 years and has an extensive experience in nursing and leadership in the US and overseas. In her current role, Dr. Scaria focus on providing quality nursing education and maintaining the nursing program outcomes exceeding the national and state benchmarks. She had taken an active role in the assessment of Institutional Learning Outcomes and End of Program Learning Outcomes at DCC. She had been mentoring students, faculty, and students seeking teaching practicum for their Masters in Nursing Education. Dr. Scaria has initiated and implemented many quality improvement and performance improvement projects in her nursing practice. She received her Masters in Nursing from the College of Nursing, Manipal, Advanced Graduate Certificate (PNP) from Stony Brook University, Advanced Graduate Certificate (Nursing Education) from Pace University, and PhD from Pace University. She passionate about teaching and has a long history of teaching diverse nursing students. She is a recipient of the NLN faculty scholarship award for her PhD dissertation regarding Diversity in Nursing Academia. Dr. Scaria’s research trajectory focuses on diversity among nursing students and preparing a diverse nursing workforce to meet the healthcare needs of the growing diverse population in the US. In addition, Dr. Scaria received the Professional Nurses Association of Putnam & Dutchess County award for excellence in nursing leadership in 2023. She has successfully lead ACEN reacrediatiion site visits at Dutchess Community College and she is an ACEN peer evaluator for ACEN site visits. She is actively involved in the SUNY capacity workgroup and preparing recommendations for SUNY to increase the healthcare workforce in New York State.
