Sharon F. Beasley, PhD, RN, CNE, NEA-BC (she/her/hers)

Dr. Sharon F. Beasley has been a registered nurse for 25 years and has served in various leadership roles (e.g., charge nurse, case manager, academic nurse educator, and director of academic nursing programs). She has leadership experience in the practice setting, academic setting, and programmatic accreditation. She brings programmatic accreditation expertise from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), where she served as a Director. She is an ACEN-content expert on the application of the Standards and Criteria, curriculum development, and outcomes assessment. As a Director for the ACEN, Dr. Beasley was responsible for mentoring/assisting programs with programmatic accreditation. Recently, she Co-Chaired the ACEN 2023 Standards and Criteria Review. Effective August 1, 2022, Dr. Beasley assumed the role of Director of Nursing Education at the University of the District of Columbia leading all nursing programs within the District’s urban, land grant university, and Historically Black University.

Dr. Beasley earned a doctorate degree in philosophy with a concentration on higher education leadership from the University of South Carolina, which was also her undergraduate alma mater. She completed her master’s degree in nursing administration from Armstrong State University (currently Georgia Southern University).

Dr. Beasley is a member of the Georgia Nurses Association, District of Columbia Nurses Association, Black Nurses Association (DMV Chapter), National League for Nursing, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and member of the Education Subcommittee on the National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing. Her focus has been accreditation, program development, leadership, outcomes assessment, and curriculum revision as reflected in recent publications and presentations (2014-2022). In addition, Dr. Beasley has presented nationally on the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the context of nursing education.
