The awareness of Professional Identity in Nursing (PIN) is creating a learning curve with accreditation standards for nursing programs. The concept of PIN provides an opportunity for nursing to return to our professional roots and assure the profession moves forward in a healthy way with integrity. Accreditation standards are now placing emphasis for accountability of PIN into curriculum and standards. This session will identify and discuss PIN and what you need to know to prepare nursing students and program outcomes for accreditation.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss the four domains of professional identity and the key elements of each.
  2. Describe how the domains of professional identity in nursing should influence one’s continuous formation as a nurse.
  3. Discuss standards of accreditation outlined and expectations associated with PIN.
