406 - Writing, Publishing, and Researching: Tips, Tools, and Technology

This workshop takes a deep dive into academic writing and the publishing process. We will review the publishing process from an editor’s perspective and provide workshop learners with open-access tools to save time on writing, researching, and publishing. The presentation will be fun, engaging, and interactive.
Have you considered submitting a manuscript for publication and need help knowing where to start or feel overwhelmed by the process? In part one of this four-hour workshop, the presenters will discuss why it is critical to publish in nursing, the types of publications, strategies for writing a successful manuscript, the peer review process, and what happens after your paper is accepted. We will also provide a detailed overview with demonstrations of open-access technology and AI or AI-enabled tools to help academics with the writing and literature search processes.
Part two of this workshop will explore the differences between writing academic papers for school, including doctoral projects, master’s theses, dissertations, and writing for publication. Presenters will explain the difference between academic papers and published articles. The TELN editor will describe converting an academic paper into a publishable article. Time will be allotted for participants to ask questions about their manuscript ideas and receive individual guidance. We encourage all learners to bring any work in progress to the workshop.
